FAQ
Answers to common questions
How accurate is the AI-detected floor plan?
Every wall, door, window and column carries a confidence score, and nothing ships until a CAD technician has confirmed, corrected or rejected it against the source point cloud. We don't publish a blanket accuracy number because it depends on the site — that review step is what makes the output usable regardless.
What's the difference between Scan to Building Plan, Scan to CAD and Scan to Draft BIM?
Scan to Building Plan is a dimensioned PDF — fastest to turn around. Scan to CAD adds editable DXF/DWG mapped to your own layer standard. Scan to Draft BIM adds a Revit/IFC starter model with wall and opening families placed, which still needs a modelling team to finish.
Do you scan occupied buildings?
Yes — handheld LiDAR (Lixel K2) is specifically suited to tenanted offices, retail units and other live sites where a static scanner would be disruptive.
What file formats can I upload to FastCAD?
.e57, .las, .laz and .rcp. If your scanner exports something else, ask us — most registered point cloud formats can be converted before upload.
Is Draft BIM ready to build from directly?
No, and we're upfront about that. It's a starter model — walls, openings and storey structure placed — that shortens the modelling work but still needs a Revit team to finish it before construction use.
